You can find events in Hastings this week that cover a range of activities across community spaces and public areas. On Monday 7 April at The Stade Library Hub, a tech co-op session runs from 5:30pm to 8:00pm, offering access to basic coding tools and collaborative project work, open to those with experience or curiosity. This week includes two bookbinding workshops hosted by the Hastings Arts Collective; one at The Old Bakery on Tuesday evening (6:15–8:45pm), using hand-made paper from a local mill, and another in the converted chapel space near St Mary’s Church on Thursday afternoon.
Metal embossing demonstrations are scheduled for Friday 9 April at the Hastings Centre for Craft and Industry, an extension of their ongoing residency programme. These sessions use reclaimed materials sourced via partnerships with coastal recycling initiatives. For quieter engagement, the Writers’ Café located off Market Street hosts drop-in co-working hours daily from 10:30am to 2:00pm, offering low-light conditions ideal for focused work.
Mindful movement continues throughout the week; Qi Gong is held at St Nicholas Hall on Wednesday evenings (6:00–7:30pm) and again by candlelight in The Pavilion Gardens during dusk hours. Live music takes place twice, on Tuesday 8 April at the Seafront Social Club with a tribute act to early Britpop bands, and Thursday evening at The Pier Theatre featuring original songs from local composers.
Karaoke returns on Friday nights across two venues: one hosted inside Old Town Café (7:00pm–10:30pm), another in collaboration with Southern Rail’s waiting area during late-night train shifts. Children can participate through drop-in play sessions run by Hastings Family Action Network, LEGO building, retro gaming and storytelling workshops at the Stade Community Centre on Saturday mornings.
All of this forms part of what's on in Hastings this week: a mix that balances connection, skill-building, expression, and simple enjoyment across locations including The Stade’s public green spaces, railway station zones during off-peak hours, East Hill paths accessible via footpath or cycle route NCR2.
